Customs Clearance Services for India–Nepal Trade
IP Group clears export and import cargo for trade between India and Nepal. Our own staff work at the Raxaul, Jogbani and Sonauli borders, and we have an office in Kathmandu — we do not pass your cargo to a subcontracted broker. Because the same company moves your truck and clears it, nothing is lost in a handover between a transporter and a separate agent.
Since 1980 · 65+ offices in 30 states · 36+ warehouses · 5 lakh+ sq ft of storage · 200+ GPS-enabled vehicles · 10 lakh+ consignments a year
What our customs team does
- Checks your invoice, packing list and HS code before the truck leaves your site
- Prepares and files the export or import documents
- Handles customs assessment, examination and duty payment
- Clears the truck at the border with our own staff
- Advises on e-way bills, GST export papers (LUT or IGST) and product licences
- Moves the cargo onward on our own transport — single-window import and export clearance

How India to Nepal border clearance works
- Document check at dispatch. Invoice, packing list, HS code, e-way bill and the buyer’s Nepal PAN/VAT number are checked before loading.
- Bill of Export filed. The customs broker files it online on ICEGATE.
- Truck reaches the ICP. Indian customs assesses the papers and may examine the cargo.
- Let Export Order (LEO). Once cleared, the truck crosses the border.
- Nepal customs. The importer’s declaration (Pragyapan Patra) is assessed on Nepal’s ASYCUDA system and the importer pays Nepal duty.
- Release and delivery. The truck is released and delivers in Nepal.

Frequently asked questions
How long does customs clearance take at Raxaul?
It depends on three things: whether the documents are complete and match, whether customs picks the truck for examination, and the queue at the ICP. Clean documents are the one thing you control, so our team checks them before the truck leaves.
Do I need a customs broker to export goods to Nepal?
You can file the papers yourself, but most exporters use a customs broker (CHA) because small errors cause long holds. IP Group handles the filing and the border work for you.
What is a G card holder in customs?
Under the Customs Brokers Licensing Regulations (CBLR) 2018, customs issues photo passes to people who work in customs clearance. An F card is for the licence holder. A G card is for an employee who has passed the customs exam and can handle clearance work for the broker. An H card is for staff who have not passed the exam and can only do support work.
Is GST charged on goods exported to Nepal?
Exports are zero-rated. You can export under a Letter of Undertaking (LUT) without paying IGST, or pay IGST and claim a refund. See GST on exports to Nepal.
Do you handle import clearance too?
Yes. We handle both export and import clearance. For imports, the Bill of Entry is filed, duty is paid, the goods are examined if needed, and customs gives the “out of charge” so the goods can move.
What are your customs clearance charges?
Charges depend on the clearance point, the type of goods, the number of items on the invoice and whether examination is needed. Ask for a written quote.
